This Peanut is a Shopaholic!
So a few weeks back when Peanut made it’s official arrival strange symptoms came as well. Besides the insane hunger and waking up feeling drunk…there was another symptom that most pregnant women don’t talk about. What am I referring to? The need to buy every cute item you can get your hands on. Some may say that this is my fault, but I say Peanut made me do it. It must be the hormones…hehe.
Most people tell you to wait until your baby shower before buying too much stuff, but that must be for women with extreme willpower and discipline. Because I don’t care what anyone says, I know for a fact that a pregnant woman has to buy at least one or two things before their baby shower…I mean give em a break! Anywho…you know me and how much I love to research. Baby gear, toys, furniture, and books are no exception. So over the months you can expects reviews and videos on everything Peanut can get it’s little hands on.
Here are a few things we have picked up already:
Animal Washers – Pier 1 – $2.99 each
Before I became pregnant I had always envisioned a nursery or a baby theme based on animals. So when I saw these while out with my mom I knew I had to have them. What I love is that they are super soft, practical, and cute as a button. The cloth part that makes up the face and tail are actually a plush washcloth material that will be great when cleaning around Peanut’s more delicate areas.

Hand Knit Bear Hats in Winter White – Etsy – $14.99
There are no shortage of cute handmade baby stuff on Etsy. So when I came across these adorable hats I had to have them. The shop was running a 2 for 1 sale so I figured I would keep the extra or give it to a friend. Our babe will be born in the heart of winter so I want to make sure his/ her head is nice and warm, while maintaining proper style. Just look at those ears.

3D Onsie – Pink & Brown – $34.99
I came across this onesie while out at a local DC baby store. It was beyond adorable. Sure it was a bit pricey for a onesie, but since it was organic and a one of a kind piece. So I knew it was a keeper and perhaps a keepsake. The baby on the front is a soft felt and has a 3D effect when you look at it. Plus the baby on the front was kind of a brown color…which for obvious reasons made sense for us. As a side note right now Peanut is translucent and has no color…its amazing how we all start out exactly the same. Anyways, looking at it now I can’t wait to take millions of pictures of our little one wearing it. Btw…my model (Barrack) was freshly bathed…and I will be washing the pieces like 10 times before the baby gets in it.

Monkey Wubanub – Pink & Brown – $11.99
Be honest…this little guy is breaking your heart. I had seen these animal pacifiers on-line and knew that I would be ordering a bunch. So When I saw this little guy at the store I couldn’t resist. Sure it was cheaper online, but I would also have to pay shipping…so I came out even. Either way when I held his soft little body for the first time I was in love. What is so great about him is that (according to other mothers) the best pacifier for a baby is the one you get at the hospital. That is exactly the one this little guy has. Of course, I will be breast feeding so he/she won’t get his hands on it for at least a month (the whole nipple confusion thing), but when he/she does I think it will be my favorite baby item.

Bum Genius/ Flip Diapers – $11.99 to $25.00
One of my obsessions in life are cloth diapers. Don’t ask me why! I just find them too adorable. I have been desperately trying to get my hands on a few and finally I did. They are:
- BumGenius Infant (light green)
- BumGenius Organic All-In-One (pink)
- Flip by BumGenius (dark green)
I plan on doing an entire review of various cloth diapers once I get a few more…even the old school pinned kind. What I love so far with the ones I have is that they are super soft and smell like a baby. Not only that but all for the infant one these diapers grow with your child so there is no need to keep buying a ton of diapers as their little bums grow bigger. All around cloth diapering is economical and eco-friendly (that is my official answer if someone asks…not the cool colors).

Hi Melanie, Congratulations to you and Chris! My sister is also having a baby in October and this totally reminded me of her. She buys the baby something every single day. I sent her this post via facebook so she will know that she is not alone. Blessings!
I am Mia’s little sister. I am due October 4. Shopping is definitely something you cannot pass up. Its so hard, especially now that we know we are having a girl. The cute little dresses are hard to pass up. I know what you are going through. I’ve started her collection for her grandma’s house.
