Baby Bucket List
A few years ago I saw a movie calledĀ The Bucket List. If was a cute film about two old men who had a list of things they wanted to do before they “kicked the bucket”. I have been thinking about my own personal bucket list. Of course I have one for when I officially kick the bucket, but I was thinking more about a bucket list for the major milestones of life.
* One of the items on my bucket list is filming my husband’s biography. Here is an outtake from that. He thought he was funny so during the interview wile I was asking him about various topics…he brought up divorce! Of course he was joking…lol
Since I just came up with this idea I didn’t get a chance to do this before I was married, but I thought perhaps I could make one before I have a baby. I saw this on another person’s site and I thought it was a cute idea. It’s not like most of this stuff couldn’t be achieved after a baby/ wedding/ ect…but it would be nice to have most of it done beforehand. The major milestones in life like a wedding or having a baby usually altar our lifestyle in a significant way. Whether its the pressure of new responsibilities, catering to the needs of another before your own or simply a change of desire level; life has a way of distracting us from our personal goals. So while these things are fresh on my mind and heart I want to write them out as clearly as possible.

How to Write Your Bucket List:
The bucket list is impulsive. You should not think about it. Just write what comes to your mind. It is said that your true dreams are the thoughts that come before you have a chance to rationalize them away. You can always add to the list, but you can never take away unless you have completed that item. However if your thoughts involve skinning a cat or eating whale blubber…you might want to edit that down a bit..lol.
My Baby Bucket List:
- Get married
- Go to Napa Valley
- Start a yoga or pilates class
- dye my hair black
- Juice for a month straight
- Run Central Park again
- Move out of the city
- Create the perfect frying batter for calamari
- Make a crispy skin duck
- Learn how to make and jar baby food
- Create a line of home cleaning products just for us
- Get the floors refinished
- Have a proper storage system installed in the closets
- Put really thick crown molding up
- Move to a big country home
- Take a tour of the south of Spain, France, and Italy
- Go on safari in Tanzania
- Learn how to portion control using the “bite system” when I eat
- Have a girls night/brunch every month
- Finish editing my book
- Write two new books
- Take a film class
- Create up my baby, pregnancy, dog and food photography portfolios
- Call my mother everyday
- Call Chris’ Mother every other day
- FindĀ my perfect hair and skin routine
- Film my husband’s biography
- Have 10,000 member on my blog!
This is sad. I just went over the list and there are three things I don’t want to do anymore. That is how impulsiveI am…lol. But since I wrote it it is officially on the list.

What a great start! Surely penning the first “To Do” is half the battle. I made a similar list when I turned 30 and have, generally, been faithful to it. I love the evolutionary nature of a life list. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!
Thanks! I am hoping this list doesn’t turn into just that: a list! I have a habit of not finishing things. so here’s hoping that I actually get through this one!
Its funny that you did a post on this. I have made for myself a little book of lists and I am trying to put together my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days (a project that I have seen other bloggers participate in). I am also struggling with not editing my list based on where I current stand. For example my husband are I are without children right now. And while I know that children change a lot of things in your life, I want the list to be a reflection of my pure uninhibited desires and wants for my life. Hopefully by writing them down I will be closer to having them manifest in my life and regardless of my life stage I will find a way to make them happen.
That project sounds great! The list is a good way to just get it all in front of you. I think actually physically seeing your dreams before your eyes its kinda hard to ignore.
I have done my TTC checklist, there are other things I would like to achieve – like write that book I have been trying to write for so long, have it publish. On my invisible list I hope to have a least 1000 followers by the end of 2010. For now I will just focus on the BabyPlan list
This is a great list – funny thing, I was just talking to my mom about making a new manifestation board reflecting my new goals.
Please tell me what “the bite system” is – sounds like something I need to do! lol
I like this idea and have been mentally doing some of this in my mind already or talking thing through with the hubby. I may have a post on this next week….I will totally link back to you list.
I love it too! Now if I can actually start trying to cross things off then it would be worth my effort
I found you doing a google search for ideas for my baby bucket list. I actually made one a while ago. It was neat to see the things on it that I’d done and, like you, I had a bunch that I didn’t care about anymore (like a job change I thought I cared about…) Anyhoo, great list
Good luck on it
