My New Book: God, Where Is My Husband?

I want to announce that I have a new book coming out, “God, Where Is My Husband: Lessons and Laughter While Waiting for Mr. Right.”
The book should be available on or about 1/1/2010. If you want less of Mr. Wrong and more of Mr. Right in 2010, then this will set you on the right track. I will post the link for purchasing it from Amazon shortly.
Here are a few excerpts to tide you over until then:

If he is Mr. Right to you, chances are he’s Mr. Right to Sally, Mary, and Sue as well. Fighting them to get to him means you’re Mrs. Wrong. Being jealous over a man is not only petty, but it displays how little you trust in God to bring you to the head of the pack. Remember, pigeons squawk and flock, but eagles soar. Be the eagle!

If God has called you to be his wife, remember – He has Mr. Right’s number too. It’s ok to let a man know where you stand, but you risk looking like some prophetic nut job if you come at him with,”Thus sayeth the Lord: Thou art my husband.” Keep the King James English and “Word from the Lord” routine to yourself. Until God (not your emotions) gives you a green light, wait.

Fairy-tale romances can come true, but unless your name is Rapunzel or Guinevere, don’t count on it. Look, I like to fantasize as much as the next woman, but in the words of Carrie, “No one has breakfast at Tiffany’s or Affairs to Remember anymore.” If you only want to be swept off your feet, life has a way of sweeping you under the carpet. Real romance is based on a heart attitude, not just dramatic gesture. If you don’t learn to balance your fantasy with reality, prepare to be disappointed.

Men like women who cook and clean. Get over it and learn how to do both.

Some days the waiting will make you sad, overwhelmed and even depressed. Just don’t let it make you give up. Think of the times when you gave up before and how much effort it took to get back on the saddle. If you find that the wheels have come off your faith, pull over. God has a spare.

You are not waiting for Mr. Right if you’re befriending, dating, or having sex with Mr. Wrong. Most “ladies in waiting” are killing time until something better comes along. It may ease the tension for the moment, but most likely it is also holding up Mr. Right. This also has the potential to backfire when you find yourself more attached to Mr. Wrong than expected. I think we can both agree, that is the “Wheel of Un-fortune” you don’t want to spin yet again.

Focusing on your career while waiting for Mr. Right only brings a promotion at your job, not in your relationship. All too often women are guilty of making their jobs the center of their world while waiting for Mr. Right. There is nothing wrong with this. However, just as developing skills for your workplace makes you a more competent employee, so will developing your skills as a wife before marriage will make you a more attractive catch. You will only get out what you put in.

If you are praying for the right man while spending time with the wrong man, as God told Joshua, “Stop praying. There’s sin in the camp.”
